BOOK TRANSLATION PROGRAM
Rekindling passion and purpose through great literature
The Medical Education Promotion Fund believes in the power of great literature to inspire and remind health care providers of the humanism that is essential for a fulfilling and impactful career in medicine. Since 2002, we have sponsored the Chinese translation and publication of over thirty thought-provoking books covering topics in medicine, health, and health care. Over 2,000 copies of each book are distributed for free to medical students, residents, physicians. Copies are also donated to the libraries of medical schools, hospitals, and clinics that partner with the Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center.
"Certainly the primary imperative of a physician is to be skilled in medical science, but if he or she does not probe
a patient's soul, then the doctor's care is given without caring, and part of the sacred mission of healing is missing."
